Rudders
The rudders apparred to have some crush damage to them, as well as some collission damage. The survey identified an issue with the steering anyway, so I got the boatyard to lift the boat so I could remove the rudders. I ended up cutting out panels on each rudder to drain the water they’d taken onboard and dry-out the internal foam. I didn’t (as some online sources suggest) fully remove and replace the foam. The Greek sun helped dry these out, and then I put them back together with fibreglass repairs of other areas of damage. They’ve been primed and I think ready to go back on now.
There was a weird gap at the top of the inside of the rudders (on the hull, not on the rudder). Asking online suggests this is maybe raw / untreated fibreglass material? I can’t tell, and couldn’t find a reason why this needed to be left open (my only thought is shock absorbing?). This was patched up with fibregless and strengthened inside & outside.
I think this is all ready to go back together now, and I think all repairs are complete to the actual hull & rudders.
The hydraulic steering still needs looking at.
